Experience the flavors of India with this quick and delectable Mustard-Infused Moong Masoor Dal, enhanced by the distinctive taste of Purti Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil. In just 30 minutes, you can savor this comforting dish that serves 4.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
- 1/2 cup masoor dal (red lentils)
- spoons Purti Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 green chili, slit lengthwise
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder (adjust according to your preference for spiciness).
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- Fresh coriander leaves, for garnish
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions:
Preparation (5 minutes): Wash the moong dal and masoor dal together until the water runs clear. Soak them in water as you get ready with the other ingredients. Dice the onion, tomatoes, green chili, and coriander leaves.
Cooking (25 minutes):
1) Heat Purti Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil in a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.
2) Include cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle.
3) Stir in the finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns translucent.
4) Incorporate the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for an additional minute until the raw scent vanishes.
5) Toss in the chopped tomatoes and green chili. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft and oil begins to separate.
6) Next, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt and mix well.
7) Strain the soaked lentils and introduce them into the pot. Stir for a couple of minutes to coat the dal with the aromatic spice mixture.
8) Pour 4 cups of water into the mixture and stir well. Close the pressure cooker lid or cover the pot and cook for about 3-4 whistles (or simmer for 20-25 minutes if using a regular pot).
Finishing Touch (5 minutes):
Once the pressure subsides, open the cooker carefully. If the dal appears too thick, add some hot water to reach your desired consistency.
Top with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot alongside lemon wedges.
In just 30 minutes, you've prepared a flavorful, protein-rich Mustard-Infused Moong Masoor Dal that's perfect for a wholesome meal. The nutty undertones of Purti Kachi Ghani Mustard Oil complement the earthiness of the lentils, making this dish a delightful addition to your table. Enjoy!
